Janice K. Squibb, age 66, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton with Fr. Ries from Jefferson as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the Church from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service on Friday. Music for the Mass will be by Richard Carey. Lector for the Mass will be Brandon Wright. Gift bearers will be grandsons: Chad Promes and Zachary Squibb. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.
Born on February 19, 1946 in Slayton, Minnesota, she was the daughter of John and Florine “Flo” (Stangl) Lohmann. She grew up in the Glidden-Dedham area and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1964. She was married to Douglas Squibb on June 20, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple lived in Scranton all their married life. Jan worked at New Hope Village for many years and Casey’s General Store in Scranton. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton. Jan enjoyed playing bingo, cards, cribbage, camping, crocheting, cross words, but most of all spending time with her family.
Jan is survived by her husband Doug Squibb of Carroll; a daughter Michele Hickman and her husband Cecil of Bethany, Missouri; two sons: Michael Squibb and his wife Christy of Rochester, Minnesota, and David Squibb and his wife Tammy of Riverview, Florida; her mother and father John and Florine “Flo” Lohmann of Glidden; nine grandchildren: Angela, Zachary, Joelle, Chad, Ashley, Megan, Britney, Breana, and Douglas; a great granddaughter Journey; three sisters: Janine Allbritton and her husband David of Post Oak Bend, Texas, Joyce Wright and her husband Steve of Benedict, Nebraska, and Judy Beyer and her husband David of Carroll; one brother John Lohmann of Glidden; a brother-in-law Phil Squibb and his wife Vicki of Ames, Iowa; a sister-in-law Theresa Durlam and her husband Bruce of Jefferson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jan was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother and father-in-law: Doyle and Eve Squibb.
